Inside Line Promotions – HUMBOLDT, Kan. (May 16, 2017) – Harli White has a home race on tap for this weekend.

White is slated to compete this Saturday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., with the ASCS Red River Region.

“It’s close to home, about 45 minutes from my house,” she said. “It’s like a home track. I love it. I usually do pretty well there. The key is staying out of trouble and moving forward in the heat race. You need a good starting position in the feature at Lawton so you have to do well in the heat race to get yourself in the redraw.”

White is looking for a strong night after enduring a sour weekend in Kansas. The action began last Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, where White placed sixth in a heat race.

“We drew a tough, tough heat,” she said. “We had our short track engine in and should have had our bigger engine in. A couple of cars got around us in the first corner and pretty much how it shook out after the first lap was how it ended.”

That relegated White to start fourth in a B Main.

“I got a bad start in the B Main,” she said. “I ran fourth for a while. I passed for third and didn’t know the bottom line came in. I got passed down there with a few laps to go.”

White ended fourth to miss a transfer by only one position.

The weekend wrapped up on Friday at Humboldt Speedway, where White finished fifth in a heat race before being passed in the closing stage of the B Main for the final transfer.

“We struggled all night long,” she said. “From hot laps to the heat race to the B Main we were struggling. The car wasn’t reacting like we thought it should. Anything we put to the car it wasn’t reacting. We’re going to build a new car this week and hopefully things will go smoother at Lawton.”
