Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (June 20, 2017) – Harli White is battle tested as she embarks upon her first racing trip to the Northwest this weekend.

White will invade Washington this Thursday through Saturday for the 46th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup hosted by Skagit Speedway in Alger. It marks the first of two straight weekends in Washington for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“I’m really excited about Skagit,” she said. “It looks like a neat place. I’ve heard a lot of good things about racing in the Northwest so I’m looking forward to experiencing that.”

White is coming off an up-and-down Speedweek with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Following results of seventh and 16th, respectively, during the first two rounds, White kicked off last week’s action on Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. She finished where she started – fourth – in a heat race, which earned enough points to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“The track wasn’t real racy,” she said. “I think we did pretty well for the way everything played out. We moved forward so that’s always a plus.”

White ended 11th.

She returned to Speedweek competition the following night at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., where she finished seventh in a heat race and fifth in a B Main. That forced her to take a provisional to start at the back of the main event.

“We drew terrible and started in the back of a heat race,” she said. “We didn’t make a qualifier so we were in the back of a B Main. We passed a few cars, but not enough. It was one of those deals where our night didn’t start off too well and we were playing catch up. We got the car rolling really well in the A Main though.”

White charged from 24th to a 15th-place finish.

Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., hosted a Speedweek race on Thursday. White advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race before maneuvering from 16th to 13th in the main event, although that doesn’t tell the whole story.

“It’s usually a racy race track, but that night it was one lane around the bottom,” she said. “I passed a few cars around the top early before I got caught up in someone else’s mess. I had to go to the back for a restart. We were rolling pretty good after that. The car was working and we were able to pass cars to rebound to 13th.”

White made her debut at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., on Friday. She placed fifth in a heat race before netting a third-place result in the B Main to transfer into the back of the main event.

“We had an overheating issue all night,” she said. “The longer the race went on the worse the engine got and would lug the motor down. The temperature got up to 260 in the heat and we don’t like that at all. We made some adjustments on the fuel to get the temperature down for the main event. It was good and didn’t get hot. I was moving forward and got caught up when another guy spun in front of me. I tagged the wall and turned over.”

White was credited with a 22nd-place finish.

Speedweek concluded on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway, where the team again battled an overheating engine. White ended fifth in a heat race to narrowly lock into the main event in the 16th starting position. However, an early spin relegated her to the back of the field for the restart.

“Once I got the wing in the trunk and stayed to the top we were a lot faster,” she said. “Then the motor started laying down halfway through the race. I had to keep my momentum up. We moved forward. I think if our engine wouldn’t have been giving us trouble we would have been a lot better.”

White rallied from the back to post a 13th-place finish. The team, which ended 11th in the Speedweek standings, later discovered a rear end problem.

In other news, White will have her t-shirt trailer that will include Aaron Reutzel’s apparel near the grandstands at Skagit Speedway this weekend.
