Inside Line Promotions – BELGRADE, Mont. (July 11, 2017) – Harli White netted her second top-10 finish of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Friday during the opening night of the Grizzly Nationals.
It was her debut at Gallatin Speedway and her first-ever race in Montana.
“The first trip to Montana was all about the luck of the draw,” she said. “The track wasn’t real racy at the beginning of the night or the end of the night. The track took rubber both nights. You needed a real good finish in the heat race to get passing points to set yourself up in the A Main.”
White did just that on Friday when she won a heat race from the pole position. It was her second straight heat race win with the series and advanced her into the feature redraw, in which she pulled the No. 5 during the random redraw to start the main event fifth.
“I should have changed my driving line early,” she said. “I committed to the bottom. I thought it was going to take rubber sooner than it did. Then I was a little too tight for the rubber.”
White lost a couple of positions before the track fully took rubber and she then maintained an eighth-place position until the checkered flag was waved.
The team returned to the track on Saturday, when White kicked off the action by finishing where she started – third – in a heat race. That relegated her to the B Main, which she won to transfer into the 17th starting position in the main event.
“We didn’t have the best car,” she said. “We still need to work on our setup. We were running a hard right rear tire and needed to make a few adjustments, but we’re finishing races and moving forward so that’s positive.”
White gained a few positions before the track took rubber as she ended 13th. She is now ranked ninth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.
White will make her debut in South Dakota this Friday and Saturday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. She will have her t-shirt trailer with new apparel near the main grandstands both nights.
“It’s pretty cool to travel and see new things around the country,” she said. “Plus, it helps me as a racer to go from track to track because I’ve had to adapt quickly.”
