Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (Aug. 22, 2017) – Harli White is excited to make her debut at a pair of tracks this weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
White will invade Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., on Thursday before making her first-ever appearance in Tennessee on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville.
“We’re looking for a fresh start,” she said. “I’m ready to get on a smaller race track. I’ve heard Riverside is really small. We’ve been on big tracks lately so a smaller track will let us get the elbows up and be up on the wheel. I haven’t raced on big tracks a lot in my career so it’s nice to get back around what I grew up racing on.”
Riverside International Speedway is a quarter-mile oval while Smoky Mountain Speedway is listed as a half-mile track, which is the size of Missouri State Fair Speedway, which hosted last Sunday’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.
“We had a good start on the heat race, but they called it back for a jump on the front row,” she said. “Everyone else had a better restart the second time.”
White had charged from seventh to third place on the opening lap before the caution made her restart on the inside of the fourth row. The second attempt didn’t go as well and White finished sixth. That lined her up 14th for the A Main.
“We missed the setup and were too free,” she said. “I couldn’t get a hold of the track and we went backwards. We tried to finish the best we could. It wasn’t a very good night, but we’re keeping our heads up. The track is challenging and we’re working on our slick track setup so we did learn something out of the race.”
White ended with an 18th-place result.
She enters this week’s action ranked ninth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.
