Inside Line Promotions – LAWTON, Okla. (May 23, 2018) – Harli White tied her career-best ASCS finish last Saturday at Lawton Speedway, where she scored a runner-up result.
The night began with White winning an ASCS Red River Region heat race after starting on the pole. That earned enough points to make the feature redraw. She pulled the No. 2 during the random redraw to start the A Main on the outside of the front row.
“I didn’t get the jump and it was follow the leader around the bottom,” she said. “I was right there the whole time. I tried to move around, but nothing worked out. If the leader messed up I was there, but it was really hard to get underneath someone, especially a veteran like Danny Jennings. I showed him my nose one time and I probably shouldn’t have. He started hugging the bottom even more and I didn’t get a chance.”
White’s second-place finish was her second podium of the season.
She kicked off last weekend on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., with the ASCS Red River Region. White advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to make the feature redraw. She got the No. 3 to line up third in the main event.
“We missed the setup a bit,” she said. “We misread the track after they reworked it. We were too tight and struggled. The longer the race went the worse it got. We hung on to make the best of our finish.”
White ended with a ninth-place result.
“We were hoping for a win or a top five, but we were fast all weekend,” she said. “It feels good to run up front. Hopefully we can carry that momentum into this weekend.”
White is scheduled to compete this Friday at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, with the ASCS Gulf South Region.
