Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Kan. (June 19, 2018) – Harli White capped the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Speedweek with a top-10 finish last Saturday at Salina Speedway.
After kicking off the night with a sixth-place result in a heat race, White charged from 17th to 10th in the A Main. It was the second-most cars passed in the feature and it marked her fourth top 10 during ASCS National Tour competition this season.
“We were really, really good at Salina,” she said. “We had the car set up great for the A Main, but the rubber came too fast. Then everyone was fast at that point. I felt like we could have went forward quite a bit more if the rubber hadn’t come. However, it was almost 100 degrees just about every night during Speedweek and that was the only race that rubbered up during Speedweek so I can’t complain.”
The strong outing put a solid stamp on Speedweek for White, who also finished 16th at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, a week ago Tuesday, 11th at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., on Wednesday and 17th on Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., last week.
“We didn’t have the best finishes, but our main goal was to get through Speedweek,” she said. “Last year coming to Washington we had to rebuild a whole car. Being able just to service it this year is a plus.”
Speedweek started a long stretch of life on the road for White, who will return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., for the 47th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“It’s tough up here in Washington,” she said. “There’s a lot of locals that show up and are fast. There is major competition up here. The way the format is we have to go forward in every race and hopefully that’s enough points to put us in the A Main.”
White enters the event ranked 11th in the championship standings – only three points out of the top 10.
“The points are really close,” she said. “It’s all about finishing races at this point. First you have to finish races before you can worry about results. Being out here is tough and we don’t come home for three months or so. You have to keep your cars together on this long stretch.”
