Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 6, 2018) – Harli White produced her career-best 360 Knoxville Nationals outing last weekend.
Not only was her event finale the best she’s ever done, White’s eighth-place finish during preliminary action marked her first career top 10 at Knoxville Raceway.
“It used to be I couldn’t race in dirty air or pass anyone,” she said. “We got better in that sense. I learned a lot and I think I’m smoother at Knoxville than the past few years. We’re going to take that and build on it.”
White kicked off the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank on Friday when she qualified 15th quickest out of nearly 50 competitors at the half-mile oval. A fourth-place result in a heat race locked her into the ninth starting position in the main event.
White maintained a top 10 throughout the 20-lap feature before capturing an eighth-place finish, which was her 17th top 10 of the season.
“We’ve come to Knoxville a few weeks in a row to prepare for this,” she said. “It was by far the best finish we’ve had at Knoxville. It was great to have a smooth night like that.”
Once preliminary points were tabulated White ranked 24th overall out of more than 90 competitors, which lined her up fourth in the B Main on Saturday.
“We were really confident, but it was tough because we don’t have a lot of notes,” she said. “We just totally missed it. Anything I did on the track didn’t make it any better. It was our fault. We tried to do our best, but we’re not going to hang our heads because we know we’re fast. We just have to fine-tune it.”
Although White faded to a 13th-place finish, her result was her best ever during the event.
She also made her 410ci winged sprint car season debut on Sunday at Knoxville Raceway during the 7th annual Weld Racing Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank. White used the event to get seat time prior to the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Store later this week.
But first she will return to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com competition on Tuesday at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, during the Sage Fruit Ultimate ASCS Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Company. It will be her debut at the track.
