Inside Line Promotions – OSBORN, Mo. (April 30, 2019) – The pill draw wasn’t in Harli White’s favor last week during the first two Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour races of the season.
“The last two weekends of racing the pill draw really came into effect,” she said. “The tracks were hard to pass on in the heat races. The pill draw is everything sometimes. However, we were able to get into the A Main both nights, which is accomplishment.”
The action began on Thursday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., where White advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race and from third to second place in a B Main to transfer into the back of the main event.
“We had a fast race car,” she said. “We had a top-10 car, but I made a couple of mistakes. The track widened out and was real racy, but it was tough to pass. Cars were racing in front of me and we were in dirty air the whole race. It’s harder to move around and do what you want to do when you’re racing mid-pack or in the back.”
White gained a handful of positions during the feature to finish 15th.
The team ventured to U.S. 36 Raceway on Friday. White drew the back of a heat race, but rallied from eighth to fifth place to lock into the 11th starting position for the A Main.
“We were really good in the heat and picked off three cars,” she said. “In the main event I got off to a bad start. I got ran over on the start and didn’t recover from that. Then I got shoved off the edge of the track and went to the back. I probably should have stopped to bring out a caution and bunch everyone back up. I couldn’t get back going and then the leaders were coming by so it was just tough circumstances.”
White ended with an 18th-place result.
“We know we have a car capable of a top 10,” she said. “It’s a matter of the draws going our way or something happening to make it a little easier on us.”
Next up is a trip east to race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa.
“Everyone who races in that area is tough competition,” she said. “We’re going into their territory. It’s tough. The main goal is to go forward in every race and try to finish strong.”
White will have merchandise available for sale at the RacinBoys apparel trailer at all Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events. She also has some merchandise available at her race trailer.
