Inside Line Promotions – RAPID CITY, S.D. (June 19, 2019) – Harli White captured career-best results at Brown County Speedway and at Black Hills Speedway last weekend during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader in South Dakota.
The pair of fifth-place outings gives her four top fives during ASCS National Tour competition this year, which is double the number she recorded last year. She currently ranks seventh in the championship standings.
“We are finally competitive every night we roll out,” she said. “We changed our mindset going into this year and we’ve had some luck on our side, too. We’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.”
White opened last weekend on Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, where she advanced from eighth to sixth place in a heat race. That lined her up on the outside of the sixth row for the A Main.
“We didn’t have the best draw, but I was able to move forward a little in the heat,” she said. “Early on in the feature I picked off a couple of positions and found a line before anyone else did. We picked them off one by one and got to fifth on the last corner of the last lap.”
White’s run to a fifth-place finish marked the second-most cars passed in the race.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Black Hills Speedway, where White powered from sixth to fourth in a heat race. She ranked 12th in points to line up 12th in the main event for the second straight night.
“I found the rubber before a couple of cars in front of me and I think that was how I was able to get around them,” she said. “The rubber came in around Lap 10 to Lap 12, just before halfway. I kept calm and kept making consistent laps and we ended fifth again.”
White was tied for the second-most cars passed again following her fifth-place outing.
She will return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup. It will be the first of two weekends racing in the Northwest.
“I love Dirt Cup,” she said. “I love the track itself. I think it fits my driving style. The draw goes a long way and getting a good draw helps you, but with the way we’ve been drawing lately I wouldn’t be surprised if we start in the back. We’ll just have to move forward in every race. My goal is to lock into the A Main on Saturday.”
