Bryan Hulbert - LINDSAY, Okla. (February 19, 2020) Arriving back in the United States on Monday after spending time racing in Australia, Harli White is working on making final preparations before setting out on her fourth season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
“Mentally and Physically, I’m ready to go. Since I’ve been in Australia over the winter, Johnny [Herrera] has been awesome taking care of everything and, aside from decals this weekend, has everything ready to go,” stated White when asked about the work during the off-season.
“Johnny and I talked a lot and I feel like our program is more put together than it’s ever been. We sold pretty much all of our used parts and are starting new this year, so this is the first time I’ll actually be starting the year off fresh.”
Sticking close to the same package the team had in 2019, Harli will again unitize Mach1 Chassis with Shark Racing Engines under the Bonnet.
Aside from working on making the program better on the track, Harli and Herrera have also focused on making the program behind the scenes flow better as well. A versatile combination in 2019, the first year allowed the pair to see where improvements could be made.
“That’s one thing we’ve really worked on is developing that bond and friendship as a driver and crew chief. I feel like we’ve really become more like a family and it’s nice having someone that you get along with and can work with on a daily basis. It makes a big difference.”
White’s stateside program kicks off at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. where the Dustin Dream/Life of Hope Ministries No. 17w hits the track on Thursday, February 27 for practice before starting the tour the following two nights at the one-third mile oval. The 2020 season marks the 13th year of racing for Harli White.
